The Nwoya Chief Magistrate’s Court on Monday convened its District Chain-Link Committee (DCC) meeting for the third quarter of the Financial Year 2025/26, bringing together key justice sector actors to enhance coordination and improve service delivery across the district.
The meeting drew participation from a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including representatives from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Uganda Police Force, Uganda Prisons Service, the Resident District Commissioner’s Office, the Chief Administrative Officer’s Office, the District Internal Security Office, the Uganda Law Society, the Probation and Social Welfare Office, and civil society organisations such as International Justice Mission, Justice for Children, and Redeem International.
Discussions centred on pressing justice and security concerns affecting the district. Among the key issues raised were emerging security threats, a rise in wildlife-related offences, cases involving children, and an increase in land disputes—some of which stakeholders noted are increasingly being handled through the criminal justice system.
During the session, each institution presented status reports outlining progress, operational challenges, and proposed practical interventions aimed at strengthening coordination and improving efficiency across the justice chain.
Chairing the meeting, the Chief Magistrate of Nwoya and DCC Chairperson, HW Omara Innocent David, commended members for their continued collaboration and commitment to justice delivery. He emphasized the value of regular quarterly engagements, describing them as vital platforms for accountability, information sharing, and harmonised service delivery.
Stakeholders also applauded the district’s coordinated efforts during the recently concluded electoral period, which was marked by calm and stability, with no election-related disputes filed before court. This achievement was largely attributed to strong inter-agency collaboration and proactive engagement among justice sector players.
