Kampala– The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Monday, March 30, 2026, convened a high-level engagement bringing together top management and Regional Officers in a strategic dialogue aimed at strengthening data management and institutional performance.
The meeting provided a platform to critically assess existing data systems, align operational priorities, and develop a more coordinated approach to evidence-based decision-making across all regions.
Speaking during the engagement, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, John Baptist Asiimwe, emphasized the critical role of accurate and timely data in the administration of justice. He urged Regional Officers to take personal responsibility for the integrity of data generated within their jurisdictions, noting that the effectiveness of prosecutorial decisions depends heavily on the reliability of the information available.
Asiimwe further explained that the engagement was intended to build consensus on practical and dependable data tools that can enhance consistency, accountability, and clarity within the institution.
Director of Public Prosecutions, Lino Anguzu, outlined a firm vision for the future, signalling a decisive shift towards digital transformation within the ODPP. He called on Regional Officers to embrace this transition with urgency, strengthen their technological capacity, and take an active role in driving a modern and responsive prosecution service.
Anguzu also warned against lapses in ethical conduct, stressing the importance of strong supervision, regular inspections, and effective performance oversight. He underscored that leadership at the regional level must be reflected in improved efficiency, discipline, and measurable results among staff.
The engagement marks a significant step in the ODPP’s ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery through improved data governance and institutional accountability.
