Mitooma– The Chief Magistrate’s Court in Mitooma District has remanded 45-year-old Juliet Tushabomwe until June 11, 2026, over allegations of torture and attempted murder of her eight-year-old stepson, Samuel Akamumpa.

Tushabomwe Juliet appeared before Chief Magistrate His Worship Gibson Muhangi and she pleaded not guilty to the charges.
She was charged with aggravated torture and attempted murder

The charges arise from allegations involving a nine-year-old boy, A.S., whom the accused, allegedly his stepmother, is accused of repeatedly forcing over several months to swallow sewing needles and fragments of broken pens using water and porridge, while threatening and assaulting him whenever he resisted.
Surgeons reportedly recovered over forty stitching needles from the child’s stomach and intestines, alongside fragments of broken plastic resembling BIC pen barrels
