Kampala-As several long-serving figures exited President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s latest Cabinet lineup, a number of new entrants and first-time appointees have been ushered into government, signaling a fresh wave of leadership across key ministries.
Among the notable new faces is Hon. Justine Nameere, the Masaka Woman Member of Parliament, who has been appointed State Minister for Local Government. Dr. Charles Ayume from Koboko joins the Cabinet as State Minister for Health in charge of Primary Health Care, while Hon. Dr. Mercy Faith Lakisa, the Woman MP for Alebtong District, has been named State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs.
Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba has been appointed Government Chief Whip, while Eng. Asiimwe Jonard, a National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee (CEC) member, takes up the role of Minister in the Office of the President in charge of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Prominent businessman Hon. Sanjay Tanna has been appointed State Minister in the Office of the President for Economic Monitoring. Hon. Desire Muhooza, the Kiboga Woman MP, becomes State Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries.
Hon. Mutasingwa Diana Nankunda, the Buikwe Woman MP, has been appointed Minister in the Office of the Vice President, while Hon. Suzan Nakawuki Nsambya, Member of Parliament for Mawokota South, assumes the position of State Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities.
Hon. Jacqueline Mbabazi, representative of the elderly in the Western Region and wife of former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, has been appointed State Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development in charge of Elderly Affairs.
Dr. Lawrence Muganga, the current Vice Chancellor of Victoria University, joins the Cabinet as State Minister for Internal Affairs. Other new appointments include Hon. Lokii John Baptist as Minister for Karamoja Affairs and Hon. Akello Rose as State Minister in the Office of the President for Ethics and Integrity.
Additional appointments include Hon. Akifeza Grace Ngabirano as State Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs in charge of Defence, and Hon. Oleru Huda as State Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs in charge of Veteran Affairs.
Hon. Magode Ikuya has been appointed State Minister for East African Affairs, while Hon. Sidronius Opolot Okasai takes on the role of State Minister for Energy and Mineral Development. Hon. Migadde Robert Ndugwa has also been named State Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries.
Hon. Cissy Mulondo becomes State Minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development in charge of General Duties, while Hon. Shartsi Kuteesa Musherure takes over as State Minister for Finance in charge of Microfinance.
Hon. Calvin Echodu has been appointed State Minister for Foreign Affairs in charge of International Affairs, while Mr. Siraji Musa Ali assumes the role of State Minister for Works and Transport in charge of Works.
The appointments reflect a blend of political leaders, professionals, and private sector figures joining the new Cabinet as President Museveni reshapes his administration.
