Kampala– The Principal Judge, Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo, has chaired a high-level preparatory meeting ahead of Uganda’s participation in the 35th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), slated for June 1–5, 2026, in Vienna, Austria.
The meeting, held at the Judiciary headquarters in Kampala, brought together officials from the justice, governance, and security sectors to coordinate Uganda’s preparations for the international conference.
Speaking during the meeting, Lady Justice Abodo commended the Governance and Security Programme Secretariat for its continued coordination and support toward Uganda’s participation in the global event. She also appreciated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for facilitating the country’s engagement in the session.
The discussions centered on technical and strategic preparations for the conference, updates on the composition of Uganda’s delegation, and planned engagements during the Vienna session.
Stakeholders also reviewed preparations for Uganda’s side event, which will be conducted under the theme, “Forensic-led Justice and Institutional Innovation.” The event is expected to showcase Uganda’s progress in integrating forensic science and institutional reforms into the justice delivery system.
The meeting further heard that Uganda’s delegation will include representatives from key justice and security institutions, among them the Judiciary, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Uganda Police Force, and the Uganda Prisons Service.
Participants additionally discussed plans for a documentary that will be screened during the conference. According to officials, the documentary will highlight Uganda’s judicial reforms and the country’s growing leadership in the use of forensic science to strengthen justice administration.
Lady Justice Abodo is expected to lead Uganda’s delegation to Vienna alongside officials from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and other justice sector institutions.
