Kampala- The Judiciary of Uganda is in final preparations for the 27th Annual Judges Conference Scheduled to take place on 2nd February 2026 to 4th February 2026 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

Justice Mike Chibita, the Supreme Court justice and one of the members of the Organizing committee noted that , during the conference, they will be reviewing performance, challenges, as well as finding solutions and share experiences.
“The key topics to be addressed include; Judicial wellness is the foundational enabler of judges , a healthy judge maintains , sustain concentration , exercise impartial decision making , with stand pressure in high pressure cases like the Presidential Election Petition.”
Chibita also emphasized that
They are going to handle a number of topics aimed at improving wellness and effective case Management.
“Partnering with media to promote transparency and Accountability, through enabling the public to know what takes place in the Judiciary.
“It ensures that accurate and contextualized information reaches the public , thus reducing misinformation which improves public trust.”
Dr. Andrew Khaukha the Executive Director of Judicial Training Institute (JTI), pointed out that among the key topics that are going to be discussed include how to marry Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) with the common justice system.
“The conference will bring all judges from Supreme Court to High court and Registrars at all levels,
Taking stock on how far we have performed as far as realization of Judiciary’s goals and Mission are concerned.”
It is organized by judges, they select topics of their interests and we shall have a number of experts to talk about those topics.”
Khaukha also emphasized that they will handle other topics like Artificial Intelligence, training judges on how to utilize whenever a need arises. The Justices will also find means of how to handle the discrepancy which always exists in sentencing convicts of similar crimes.
The theme for the conference is: Judicial wellness: a tool for effective case management.
