Kampala,Uganda- Former BBC journalist Allan Kasujja has been appointed Executive Director of Uganda’s Media Centre, replacing Ofwono Opondo, who stepped down to pursue elective politics.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni confirmed the appointment in a letter addressed to the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. In the correspondence, the President noted that he had received a letter dated November 27, 2025, proposing changes in the leadership of the Media Centre.
Kasujja brings with him extensive experience in the media industry, having worked with Sanyu FM and Capital FM before joining the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), where he served for 13 years. He returned to Uganda last year after a distinguished international career in journalism.
His appointment followed an internal selection process that also considered the acting Executive Director, Obed Katureebe, and former Government Citizens Interaction Center (GCIC) Deputy Director, Duncan Abigaba.
As the new government spokesperson, Kasujja is expected to strengthen state communication and introduce a fresh, professional approach to public messaging and public engagement.
The appointment was effected on the directive of President Museveni and communicated through the Minister of Information and Communications Technology and National Guidance, Dr Chris Baryomunsi.
