Entebbe- Hon. Persis Namuganza one of the earlier contenders who had expressed interest to contest for the position of Speaker for the 12th Parliament, has officially withdrawn from the race.
This is to inform the entire country that I have officially withdrawn from the Speakership race. Moving forward, I will fully rally behind the candidates the NRM has selected today for both Speaker and Deputy Speaker.”
She extended her deepest gratitude to all Ugandans for the overwhelming support and love they have shown her during this campaign period

This announcement has come a few hours after NRM had announced it’s official candidates for the position of Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the election expected to take place on Monday 25th May 2025.
