Jinja –The Second Deputy Prime Minister of Busoga Kingdom, Owek. Alhaji Osman Ahmed Noor, has commended dfcu Bank for its commitment to community service beyond profits, as the bank marked its 62nd anniversary with the launch of a major health camp in Walukuba.

Representing His Majesty the Kyabazinga of Busoga, Owek. Osman delivered remarks at the dfcu Humanity Day event, praising the bank for dedicating the occasion to humanity, health, and community wellbeing.

He highlighted the launch of a joint dfcu Bank–Rotary Uganda Health Camp, which provided free medical services including screenings for sickle cell, diabetes, malaria, dental care, eye care, and general consultations.

The initiative builds on past collaborative efforts by dfcu Bank and its partners, which have already benefited over 21,700 Ugandans, including support for more than 2,500 surgeries and 22 life-saving heart procedures.

Owek. Osman emphasized that the health camp aligns closely with the Kyabazinga’s vision that “health comes before everything else,” aimed at building a healthy, productive, and self-reliant Busoga.

He urged residents to take full advantage of health camps whenever organized, embrace early testing, and adopt preventive health practices.

“Health is foundational to the prosperity of our kingdom,” he said, while inviting dfcu Bank to expand its partnership with Busoga beyond health into critical areas such as youth skilling, women’s empowerment, education, agriculture, and fighting teenage pregnancies.

Kate Kiiza, Executive Director at dfcu Bank, represented the CEO and reiterated the bank’s belief that strong communities are essential for sustainable growth.

She noted that the camp’s goal of reaching over 2,000 people was realized with much-needed services that are often inaccessible due to distance or cost.

“We are deeply appreciative of the support and partnership of the Busoga Kingdom,” Kiiza said, applauding the Kingdom’s role in mobilization and leadership on social issues.

She also thanked Rotary Uganda for its longstanding collaboration in health, education, and community development.

She said that as part of humanity, they put aside 1 billion shillings to actually support communities and do humanitarian activities specifically in collaboration with Busoga Kingdom and Rotary Uganda to reach the different communities in Busoga and impact them.

Kiiza revealed that dfcu Bank has plans to organize 17 health camps across the country in celebration of the Bank’s 62nd anniversary adding that the Jinja Health Camp marked the kicking off of all the 17 health camps to be organized.

After her remarks, Kiiza introduced staff of dfcu Bank before guests at the event.

District Governor of Rotary District 9213, Geoffrey Martin Kitakule, expressed gratitude to dfcu Bank and the Busoga Kingdom for the partnership.

He echoed Kyabazinga’s message on the importance of health, stating that without a healthy population, there can be no strong kingdom.

Kitakule affirmed Rotary’s commitment to working with partners to improve lives and change lifestyles in the region.

The event concluded with the official declaration of dfcu Humanity Day and the opening of the Walukuba Health Camp, attended by Busoga Kingdom Ministers who included Owek. Babirye Yudaya Minister in the office of the Kyabazinga and also Executive Director Kyabazinga Initiatives, royal family members, Royal Chiefs led by Issabalangira (Chief Prince) Samuel Zirabamuzale Nkuutu, government officials, health professionals, and Rotarians.

This collaboration underscores growing public-private and cultural-institutional partnerships in addressing Uganda’s healthcare challenges while promoting broader socio-economic development in Busoga. Over 2000 people attended this Health Camp.
