Nama Sub-county has officially dissolved its 2021–2026 Council following a thanksgiving and farewell ceremony held at the sub-county headquarters on Monday, with leaders urging both outgoing and incoming officials to uphold integrity, truth, and accountability in public service.

The event brought together councillors, technical staff, religious leaders, and community members to reflect on the achievements registered during the five-year term and pray for peaceful leadership transition ahead of the new council.

While officially dissolving the council, Speaker Hon. Kirabire Badiru thanked councillors, technical officers, and residents for the support and cooperation extended to him during his tenure. He said the council had successfully debated and passed resolutions aimed at improving service delivery and promoting development within Nama Sub-county.

Kirabire noted that despite occasional disagreements among councillors, such debates strengthened decision-making and helped the council better serve the people.

He urged incoming leaders to prioritize community interests over personal gains, respect council procedures, and maintain unity in leadership.

“Leadership is temporary, but service to the community remains a lasting responsibility,” he said.

In a reconciliatory message, Kirabire asked forgiveness from anyone he may have offended while executing his duties and equally forgave those who wronged him. He expressed confidence that the sub-county would continue progressing under the next leadership.

The thanksgiving prayer service was led by Rev. Edward Muyomba Ssenyonga, Parish Priest of Nsambwe Parish in Seeta Archdeaconry and Diocesan President of the House of Clergy in Mukono Diocese. Preaching from 2 Timothy Chapter 4, he called on leaders to remain truthful, honest, and committed to serving the public faithfully.

He cautioned councillors against unnecessary conflicts, emphasizing that leadership should be guided by integrity and service to the people.

Former Mukono District Speaker and Mukono Central Division District Councilor-elect, Hon. Hope Betty Nakasi, commended the outgoing council leadership for steering the sub-county effectively over the last five years. She said true fulfillment in leadership comes from faithfully executing entrusted responsibilities.

Nama Sub-county Chairperson Isabirye John Bosco Emma highlighted several achievements realized during the term, including construction of sanitation facilities at the headquarters, installation of a water tank, supply of desks to schools, and provision of bursaries to needy students.

He thanked councillors, local leaders, and government staff for their teamwork and encouraged incoming leaders to safeguard and build upon the progress already achieved.

Sub-county Chief Nsubuga Louis also cited key milestones, including acquisition of land for the sub-county and expansion of the local budget to UGX 530 million. However, he acknowledged challenges arising from demands by some councillors for allowances not provided for under the law.

Former District Councilor for Namataba Town Council, Hon. Ganzi Musoke Steven, advised newly elected leaders against treating political office as a source of employment, urging them instead to view leadership as a responsibility to serve society.

Former Nama Sub-county Chairperson Festo Kaweesa called on leaders to preserve official records, uphold the dignity of the sub-county, and seek God’s guidance in leadership decisions.

As part of the ceremony, outgoing councillors were awarded Certificates of Appreciation in recognition of their service and contribution to the community during the 2021–2026 council term.

The ceremony marked both the closure of one leadership chapter and the beginning of another, with leaders emphasizing the need for truth, accountability, unity, and dedication to public service as new councillors prepare to assume office.
