Kampala– The Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Uganda (AOGU) has extended heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Hellen Nakimuli, the Woman Member of Parliament for Kalangala District, describing her passing as a significant loss to the country.

In a statement issued on April 22, 2026, AOGU President Rogers Kajabwangu conveyed sympathy to Nakimuli’s family, loved ones, constituents, and all Ugandans mourning her death.
The association noted that, as a professional body committed to advancing quality reproductive healthcare, it shares in the public concern surrounding the circumstances of the legislator’s death.
AOGU revealed that a clinical review is currently underway at the health facility where Nakimuli received treatment. The review, it said, is part of standard medical practice aimed at learning, improving care, and ensuring that high professional standards are upheld.
The body appealed to the public to remain calm and allow due processes to take their course, emphasizing its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and accountability in healthcare delivery.
AOGU also acknowledged the emotional and psychological toll such incidents can have on healthcare workers involved, pledging support to its members and other professionals affected during this period.
The association reaffirmed its dedication to working with stakeholders to strengthen public trust in Uganda’s health system and to enhance the quality and safety of care for women and families nationwide.
