Nakulabye, Kampala- Police in Kampala has arrested three suspects found in possession of livestock believed to have been stolen from the districts of Luweero and Zirobwe.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala, the arrests followed a tip-off received by police in the early hours of Wednesday, March 11, 2026, about a suspicious vehicle transporting suspected stolen property.
Police officers reportedly trailed a white Toyota Wish registration number UBG 345D from around 2:00 a.m. until it reached Nakulabye, a suburb of Kampala. Upon parking, the occupants allegedly began offloading slaughtered animals believed to be cows.
Officers quickly moved in and arrested the three suspects who are currently being held in police custody. The recovered vehicle was found with two slaughtered cows in its boot.
The suspects have been identified as Saka Kisiga Salongo, Guloba Hamza, a butcher, and Bukenya John, who was driving the vehicle at the time of arrest.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the animals were allegedly stolen from the Zirobwe and Luweero areas before being transported to Nakulabye for sale. Police say the suspects are believed to have been selling the meat in kilograms at about UGX 10,000 per kilogram.
Police have confirmed that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
