Police in Kampala have arrested 14 suspects during an operation targeting individuals believed to be involved in aggravated robberies against boda boda riders.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police South, the operation was conducted on 11th March 2026 at Muganzirwaza Building where several shops were searched as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks linked to motorcycle theft.
During the operation, police recovered several exhibits suspected to be connected to motorcycle robberies. These include six Bajaj Boxer motorcycles bearing registration numbers UDJ 081A, UEO 147V, UFH 038X, UDX 342P, UEJ 419G and UDU 722G.
Officers also recovered sacks containing dismantled motorcycle spare parts, a blue polythene bag filled with assorted spare parts, two motorcycle frames, two sacks of metal parts and motorcycle number plate frames.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are believed to be part of a criminal group that has been targeting boda boda riders since 2025. The gang reportedly lures riders from distant areas while posing as customers before robbing them using pangas. The stolen motorcycles are then dismantled and the parts sold.
Police say the operation is still ongoing as security teams continue to pursue other suspects believed to be on the run.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Luke Owoyesigyire, said further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
