Kampala,Rubaga– The late Ssaabalangira Godfrey Kikulwe Musanje was on Wednesday prayed for during a Holy Mass held at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Rubaga, led by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ssebayigga, the Deputy Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Kampala. Ssaabalangira Musanje passed away on Tuesday, 3rd January 2026.

In his homily, Fr. Ssebayigga praised the late Ssaabalangira for his compassionate heart, exemplary leadership, and dedication to serving others, particularly within the Royal Clan (Olulyo Olulangira). He described the deceased as a man whose words and actions inspired many and whose teachings were worthy of being documented for future generations.
Fr. Ssebayigga reminded Christians to emulate the good deeds of the departed, remain steadfast in Christ, and live with hope of resurrection, encouraging the faithful to continue praying for the soul of the deceased.
Representing the Government of Buganda Kingdom, the First Deputy Katikkiro, Owek. Twaha Kaawaase Kigongo, conveyed condolences to the Royal Clan and the entire Buganda Kingdom on the loss of Ssaabalangira Musanje. He noted that the Royal Clan holds a central place in Buganda, as it is from this lineage that the Kabaka comes, making the loss of any of its members deeply felt.
He commended the late Ssaabalangira for his service as a leader, health professional, and cultural figure, describing him as humble, approachable, a wise counselor, and a lover of people.
The Deputy Ssaabalangira, Omulangira Kateregga Fred Ssande, said the late Ssaabalangira served diligently and built strong relationships, noting that he will be greatly missed. He thanked all those who supported the family and ensured that the deceased was accorded a dignified send-off.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Omulangira Golooba Martin, a son to the deceased, expressed gratitude to His Majesty the Kabaka for honoring their father with the title of Ssaabalangira and entrusting him with leadership of the Royal Clan.
He thanked all individuals who supported his father throughout his life and called upon family members to remain united, prayerful, and supportive of one another, as the late Ssaabalangira had always encouraged.
On behalf of the Central Government, Owek. Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo described the death of Ssaabalangira Musanje as sudden and painful, especially to those who worked closely with him.
She noted his deep love for the Royal Clan and his strong desire to see its affairs strengthened and organized. She called upon those left behind to continue the work he had passionately advocated for.
The Holy Mass was attended by members of the Royal Clan, Princes and Princesses, Buganda Kingdom officials at various levels, and numerous mourners.
The body of the late Ssaabalangira Godfrey Kikulwe Musanje was later transported to Kasawo, where he is expected to be laid to rest on Thursday, 5th January 2026.
