Masaka City — Masaka City Woman Member of Parliament–elect, Hon. Justine Nameere Nsubuga, has described her court-sanctioned victory as a historic milestone built by the people of Masaka “stitch by stitch,” saying the electorate rejected divisive politics in favor of effective representation, service delivery and meaningful engagement with government.
In the message she posted our social media platforms after the court had upheld her win, Nameere said the people of Masaka City entrusted her with the mandate through the ballot, despite attempts by what she termed a “mafia cartel” involving elements from both the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the National Unity Platform (NUP) to overturn the outcome.
“They chose me for the job through the ballot. We put up a spirited fight in court and reclaimed that victory,” Nameere said, adding that her sole remaining task is to serve the people of Masaka City diligently.
The NRM flag bearer thanked the ruling party for standing with her throughout the legal process, paying special tribute to NRM Party Chairman President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Second National Vice Chairperson (Female) Rt. Hon. Annet Anita Among, and NRM Director of Legal Affairs Senior Counsel Barata.
She also acknowledged her legal team—Counsel Anthony Bazira, Counsel Psalm Ssekyeewa and Counsel Job Kuteesa—as well as her political mentors Hon. Moses Byaruhanga and Hon. Capt. Mike Mukula. Nameere reserved special gratitude for her father, Hon. Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja, supporters, fans and followers across Uganda and beyond.
Nameere pledged to be a dependable and vocal force in Parliament, not only for Masaka City but for the country at large, dedicating her victory to God and the people who stood by her side.
