Mukono District Local Government has today paid heartfelt tribute to the late Nalongo Josephine Namanda, an esteemed Aquaculture Officer who tragically lost her life in a fatal accident on her way to perform official duties.
The thanksgiving and memorial mass was held at St. Andrews Kaggwa Catholic Church,Kichwa Mpoma drawing together family, friends, district leadership, and community members today honor her legacy of nine years of dedicated service.
The special service attracted several dignitaries, including the RDC Hajjat Fatuma Ndisaba Nabitaka, District Speaker Betty Nakasi Hope, District staff, religious leaders, and the Christian community of St. Andrews Kaggwa. The mood was filled with deep sorrow but also immense gratitude for the life Josephine lived and the service she selflessly offered to the people of Mukono.
The Memorial Mass was led by Rev Fr. Mike from St. Andrews Kagwa Catholic Church and urged the mourners to remain good at all times, saying this is the only way Jesus will guide them in their daily lives and emphasized that goodness will follow them whether they are alive or dead. He reminded the congregation that a day of judgment awaits everyone for the good or bad they do. He also encouraged them to live righteously, pray for one another, and put their trust in God.
Late Josephine Namanda was Born on 11th August 1985 in Bukomansimbi District, Nalongo Namanda started her journey with Mukono District Local Government on 27th September 2016 as a Fisheries Officer in Nama Sub-county. Her commitment, discipline, and passion for community transformation soon earned her a new designation as the District Aquaculture Officer in 2018.
Josephine also played a key role in the GKMA project, serving as secretary to all major District engagements alongside with Mr. Kasasa and Her colleagues remembered her as hardworking, humble, and deeply committed to improving livelihoods through agriculture.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Ddamba Henry, The Principal Assistant Chief Administrative secretary,Mr. Kamala Daniel extended gratitude to the family for raising such a dedicated and exemplary public servant. He assured the mourners that the district would stand with Josephine’s family and offer support to her children in any way possible.
In her address, Resident District Commissioner of Mukono,Hajjat Fatuma Ndisaba called upon community members, especially parents, to strive for dignity and responsibility in their homes so they can leave behind meaningful legacies—just as Josephine has.
She made a special appeal to men, urging them to take up their roles as fathers wholeheartedly:
“Men should be present, supportive, and emotionally available to their children. In moments where mothers are absent, children should still find comfort, love, and guidance from their fathers, rather than regret.”

Josephine’s family expressed deep appreciation to the Mukono District Local Government for the compassion, unity, and support shown throughout her years of service and especially during this difficult time.
They noted that the love extended to Josephine reflects the great bond she built during her work in Mukono.
The late Nalongo Josephine Namanda will be laid to rest tomorrow, 22nd January 2026, at her ancestral home in Katolerwa Misanvu Town,Kibinge Sub county in Bukomansimbi District.
