Wakiso – On Monday evening, National Unity Platform (NUP) released an official list for people who will be Contesting as Members of Parliament on the Party ticket. The list dropped many Legislators and it brought a number of new members on board.

In Busiro East , Hon. Medard Ssegona who has served in that position for three terms was replaced with former Kyengera Town council Mayor , Mathias Mulumba Walukagga, which has been welcomed by many as others are still weighing in on how possible this can be.
“Ssegona is a good legislator who has performed well in Parliament, but during the 15 years he has been in Parliament, he has not done enough in uplifting the well being of his constituents. Every after elections, he becomes rare in the Constituency, but always returns during election period.” Said Victoria Babirye , a resident of Kyengera Town council
Some blamed Ssegona of being disrespectful to the party to the extent that he spares little time for NUP activities where he (MPs) are required to attend.
“He is a loyal person to Hon. Mathias Mpuuga who was sidelined by the party, and this was proved during the period NUP was looking for signatures to censure him after disrespecting the Party, Ssegona publicly declared that he is a loyal friend to Mpuuga.” Noted Ssenkeezi Ronald
However on the other hand, many are still saying that Walukagga is not a good replacement for a person like Ssegona. “Walukagga would have remained at Local Government level because there he is good, but now being a new entrant NUP will suffer a seat back as they will have few experienced individuals to head committees.” Remarked Kalule Fredrick, resident of Kyengera
The race was abit competitive because it had more than four popular individuals ready to take NUP flag and represent it for the next five years.
Those lost include Charles Wilson Ggala, Emmanuel Magoola and Sempala Kigezi.
