KAMPALA– Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny Dollo has dismissed rumors that Judicial officers at times makes decisions basing on influence from authorities.

“Am about to leave office having served for five years, no body has ever pleaded to me to decide on the matter in his/her favor.
Even my two predecessors Benjamin Odoki and Katureebe, Wako wambuzi, the ones I know better, have never experienced it, because if they had passed through that experience, they would have put it into writing.” Remarked Dollo at the 8th Ben Kiwanuka Memorial Lecture
He therefore, insisted that such notions are carried by individuals who don’t wish the Judiciary well.
Dollo also called upon the lawyers under their umbrella Association of Uganda Law Society to always use proper channels in condemning the wrong deeds of the Judiciary, as well as protecting its image in the public where necessary.
At the same event, Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka urged Judicial officers to embrace the courage like that of Benedicto Kiwanuka in protecting the rule of law and constitutional governance in Uganda.
“He didn’t yield to intimidation , fearless fidelity to the rule of law, he stood against the erosion of constitutional order , from his life , he didn’t compromise whenever it came to matters of the rule of law.”
That he clearly understood, that once Judiciary bows to political or public experience it ceases to be a Judiciary.
