KAMPALA– First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda , Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga, has distanced her self against allegations that she has interest to contest for the country’s top office come 2026.

“Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has noted with concern the circulation of a false poster on social media alleging that she intends to contest for President of Uganda in the upcoming general elections.” Reads part of information from her office Signed by Bishop Samuel, her Press Secretary.
He added that that information is entirely false and the work of unscrupulous and il-mannered individuals who are deliberately spreading fake news to mislead the public.
“Rt. Hon. Kadaga wishes to categorically state that she has no intention to stand for President in the forthcoming elections. She is only offering herself for re-election as Woman Member of Parliament for Kamuli District.”
He therefore advised the media and the public, to rely on official communication from this office regarding the political aspirations of Rt. Hon. Kadaga.
This information came at a time after Kadaga publicly expressed anger and dissatisfaction to some of the leaders in National Resistance Movement (NRM) for having not protected them at the time when she was being attacked by new comers within the party.
