KAMPALA – The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has asked the members of the general public to be careful against unscrupulous individuals that want to take away their money under the guise of soliciting for DPP’s Thanksgiving ceremony.
“The ODPP has received reports that unscrupulous individuals are circulating messages and soliciting funds for a purported thanksgiving ceremony in the name of the Director of Public prosecutions (DPP), Hon. Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo, using telephone
number 0772 299 783.” Reads part of communication from ODPP dated 16th September Secondly, the public is hereby advised that this number does not belong to Hon. Lady justice Jane Frances Abodo, and therefore any person using that number, is the tool of a fraudster impersonating her and styling himself/herself as “Francis Abodo, Principal Judge.”
“We categorically clarify that Hon. Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo is not organising any thanksgiving function at this time and has made no appeal whatsoever for funds.”
In the same document, the members of the public have been further cautioned against engaging with or sending any money to the individual using the said contact. Any dealings with this person will be entirely at one’s own risk.
