Namirembe – A total of 1520 aspiring candidates have so far been nominated by the Democratic Front electoral commission to contest for elective positions on the DF ticket at different levels.

Out of the 1520, 162 are aspiring to be members of Parliament, 32 are seeking to stand for district chairpersons, and the others are councilors at all levels, according to the nomination status report released by the electoral commission of the party, headed by Mr. Henry Lubowa.
Speaking to the media at the party headquarters in Namirembe, Kampala, Mr. Lubowa noted that the party leadership has approved the extension for all elective positions at all levels to give an opportunity to aspirants who were sidelined by other parties to continue pursuing their political ambitions under the DF banner.
Lubowa informed the media today that the DF electoral commission he heads will continue to nominate candidates until the last hour, calling on aspirants who were dropped or rejected by the NRM and National Unity Platform during their recent vetting and primary processes to pick up DF party tickets.
Mr. Samuel Lubega Mukaaku, the party’s national chairperson, noted that the DF will give room to aspirants who were rejected by other parties to survive politically and receive further mentorship.
The party’s Vice President in charge of the Eastern region, Mr. Pascal, commended the party’s electoral commission for undertaking a clear, clean, and corruption-free nomination process since the process began.
The nomination process is still ongoing.
