MASAKA– High Court in Masaka on Friday, declined to release on bail four civilian bodyguards of National Unity Platform (NUP) Principal Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi wine facing charges of Aggravated Robbery and malicious damage.

These who include; Achilleo Kivumbi, Edward Ssebuufu alias Eddie Mutwe zoom, well as their co acused, Gaddafi Mugumya and Grace Wakabi Smart appeared physically.
Justice Fatumah Nanziri, led by Masaka in her ruling, noted that although the applicants fulfilled the bail requirements, court was not satisfied that the accused persons would not interfere with witnesses if granted bail.
Secondly, that the applicants are facing serious offences and they may abscond once granted bail.
“Given the serious and targeted nature of these offences, coupled with the Prosecution’s affirmation that it is fully prepared to commence trial at the earliest session of this court, it is plain that no combination of conditions can adequately safeguard both the community safety and the integrity of the impending proceedings.” Ruled Court
The Deputy Registrar of court was directed to prioritize the cause-listing for trial of these matters in the earliest available criminal session of the same court.
