KAMPALA– The Uganda Journalists Association has instructed a team of lawyers to rescue two journalists that were arrested on Saturday by the state House Anti corruption Unit.

The Journalists being detained at Central Police Station( CPS) in Kampala are; Eric Yiga working with Salt Media and Ivan Kimbowa attached to Uganda Radio Network (URN).
The duo’s detention followed their arrest on Saturday morning by the security personnel who introduced themselves as the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU) staff when they picked them from Mukono and moved them to the CPS.
They were arrested in connection to the story that was recently written about the Education Officer for Mukono Municipal Council.
“The ongoing detention of these journalists is a serious concern to us as it poses adverse effect on the press freedom landscape in this country” noted Emmanuel Kirunda, the UJA secretary General
The UJA has demanded for the immediate un conditional release of these journalists.
