IGANGA– A day after Miriam Saif has been declared the NRM Flag bearer for Iganga Woman Parliamentary seat, Sauda Kawuma , the incumbent, has expressed disatisfaction with the results and vowed to contest as an independent in the forthcoming general elections.
On addressing the press on Sunday, Kawuma said that although the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission had organized a fair electoral process, a lot didn’t move on well.
“The party took time to organize registers , to verify registers and money to organize primaries , but according to what happened, it means that all that wasn’t considered, it was a wastage of money and time. They intimidated our women not to come at the polling station and they didn’t vote.”
She also pointed out that results from her polling center shown clearly that she didn’t get any vote despite of the fact that she had voted and she also had her agents who also participated in the voting process.
“NRM electoral commission said that we should have all elections held at the same time on the voting day, but in Nabitenda , they held elections at various intervals with the same voters moving to various polling stations at different time.”
She further added that this was very wrong because it was in total contravention of the party Electoral laws.
