Kayunga – Six Muslim leaders in Kayunga District have received new motorcycles to ease transportation as they carry out their religious duties across the district.

The motorcycles were presented on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at a colourful function held at the Kayunga Muslim District offices and the Main Mosque in Kyerima Trading Centre along the Ntejeru–Kayunga Road. The donation was handed over by His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Hafiz Muhammad Harunah Bukenya, the Second Deputy Mufti, who personally lobbied for the motorcycles before his appointment to the national office while serving as Kadhi of Kayunga Muslim District.
Addressing a gathering mainly comprising family members of the beneficiaries, Dr. Sheikh Bukenya explained how the donation was secured.
“These leaders put their requests in writing about their transportation difficulties they were facing while performing their Islamic religious duties. So I approached several rich individuals lobbying for 10 motorcycles and among them one responded positively and agreed to donate six, but he politely requested not to disclose his name and he has only done it as his personal appreciation to Almighty Allah and further requested that they should be used for the facilitation in the propagation of Islam,” he remarked as the guests chanted loudly, “Allah Akbar – God is the Greatest.”
Dr. Sheikh Bukenya also preached, quoting several verses from the Holy Qur’an on the countless blessings Allah bestows upon mankind, noting that only a few people remain grateful. He urged Muslims to faithfully give Zakat, the annual obligatory alms, to support the less privileged in their communities.
”God in turn will bless and protect their wealth,” he advised.
He concluded by expressing profound gratitude to the anonymous donor and prayed that Allah blesses him and his family. He also thanked the Muslims of Kayunga for their loyalty to the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) and appealed to them to maintain Muslim brotherhood and unity.
Earlier, several leaders addressed the gathering, including Sheikh Imran Abdnoor Ssali, UMSC Secretary for Religious Affairs; Sheikh Umar Gugumiza, the Kayunga District Kadhi and host of the event; and Mr. Miladu Hirya, the District Secretary and Programme Coordinator.
Sheikh Ssali urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the motorcycles and to avoid overspeeding out of excitement. Sheikh Gugumiza encouraged them to remain grateful to Allah and remain devoted to serving Islam.
Mr. Hirya, on his part, encouraged other Muslim leaders to always submit their requests in writing, remain patient and never lose hope.
Among those in attendance were Sheikh Harunah Matovu, the former Kadhi of Kayunga District and father of the Second Deputy Mufti, county sheikhs, imams and other Muslim faithful.
