Nakasero, Kampala– As the competition in the race of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 12th Parliament continues to get stuff, a total of Nineteen Members of Parliament have filed the credentials to National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretariat expressing interest to Contest for those two seats.

According to Dr. Tanga Odoi, the Chairperson of NRM Electoral Commission, three individuals expressed interest on position of Speakership well as sixteen others are seeking to contest for Deputy Speakership.
The Candidates for Speakership are; Markson Oboth Oboth, the Member of Parliament for West Budama County, Asiimwe Florence Akiiki, the Woman Member of Parliament for Masindi and Alion Yorke Adria, the Member of Parliament for Aringa South Yumbe district.
The Candidates vying to carry the Party flag on the position of Deputy Speaker include, Hon. Thomas Tayebwa the outgoing speaker, Obiga Rose the district Woman Member of Parliament for Terego, Lwamwaka Catherine, Woman MP for Omoro district, Nakawuki Suzan Nsambya the member of Parliament for Mawokota South.
Others are; Kuteesa Mary Kamuli, Ogwang Patrick Obura, James Kaberuka Ruugi Niringiyimana, Namara Dennis, Wanyoto Lydia Mutende, Gashaija Shaka Steven, Jackson Kafuuzi, Tete Chelengat, Lokwang Hilary and Otto Edward Jackson.
NRM Central Executive Committee is expected to come up with to select the names of candidates who will Contest in tomorrow’s elections.
On Speaker ship the elected candidate will Contest against Democratic Party’s Nobert Mao and National Unity Platform’s Paul Mwiru.
