Church of Uganda Dismisses Claims of Attack on Archbishop in Boston
The Church of Uganda has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media alleging that the Archbishop, Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, was attacked during a church service in the Boston.
In an official statement released on May 4, 2026, the Provincial Secretary, Rev. Canon William Ongeng, clarified that while a minor disruption occurred during a recent service at St Peter’s Anglican Church, the situation was quickly brought under control.
“The narrative suggesting that the Archbishop was attacked is entirely false,” Ongeng stated. “A small group of unidentified individuals caused a brief disturbance, which was promptly contained, allowing the service to proceed without further interruption.”
The Church emphasized that Archbishop Kaziimba remains safe and unharmed, and continues to carry out his official duties in the United States as part of his international ministry engagements.
The statement further urged the public to disregard the circulating misinformation, warning that such claims are likely intended to cause unnecessary panic and confusion among believers and the general public.
Church officials reiterated their commitment to providing accurate information and encouraged reliance on verified communication channels for updates regarding the Archbishop’s activities.
