Makerere, Kavule– Following complaints from the public about having a John Mary Ssebuwufu, a candidate on National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Electoral Management Committee (EMC) describing it as being unfair, the party’s deputy spokesperson has clarified on the matter.

“Johnmary will not be engaged in clearance of people he will be contesting with, he will be handling those from other Divisions. When his turn comes , he will also face the committee.”
Mufumbiro emphasized that the system is water tight and it is not an assurance that whoever is on the election management committee will go through.
“In the last general elections, you remember there were people close to the party administration, but didn’t get the Party ticket and I hope you all witnessed them breaking down into tears.”
He therefore asked Ugandans to trust the system even this time because everything will move on a fairly and just manner.
On several occasions, NUP members especially those vying for various elective positions, have been wondering how could the Party top management could allow some one like Ssebuwufu, a candidate in Nakawa Division to be among those scrutinizing who should be given a party flag in the forthcoming elections.
