Kampala– The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chapter at Makerere University has unveiled Tebakor Jimmy Prince as its Guild Presidential flag bearer ahead of the upcoming April guild elections.
On Thursday, the chapter presented Mr. Tebakor to the NRM Deputy Secretary General, Rose Namayanja Nsereko, during a meeting at the party secretariat on Kyadondo Road in Kampala.
According to the chapter chairman, Tebakor emerged victorious after highly contested internal elections within the chapter.
While receiving the candidate, Namayanja commended the students for rallying behind a single flag bearer, describing the unity demonstrated during the internal process as commendable.
“I am happy about the unprecedented unity and togetherness in consolidating support for the flag bearer,” she said, urging party members to avoid contesting as independents and instead maintain party cohesion.
Namayanja also applauded young people across the country for their support of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, noting that youth mobilisation played a significant role in strengthening the party.
“Your contributions in mobilising and voting for the NRM are heartwarming to us,” she added.
The party secretariat leadership pledged continued support to the Makerere University NRM Chapter to ensure victory in the forthcoming guild elections.
“Our role is to facilitate chapter activities and provide guidance where necessary,” Namayanja noted.
Speaking after his unveiling, Tebakor expressed confidence in securing victory in next month’s elections and thanked members for entrusting him with the party flag.
Also addressing the students, the Chairman of the National Youth Council Uganda, Daniel Ongom, emphasised the importance of unity and patriotism among young leaders. He described Makerere University as a microcosm of the nation, noting that many leaders who pass through the institution later take up key national roles.
“Makerere is Uganda summarised,” Ongom said. “Young leaders must promote patriotism, unity, and the message of wealth creation among their peers.”
