The Office of the President has issued a public warning about fraudsters soliciting money from unsuspecting members of the public under the false promise of securing government appointments.
In a notice signed by Babirye Milly Babalanda, the Minister for the Presidency, the Office said it had been alerted to unscrupulous individuals who are fraudulently collecting money from citizens while claiming they can influence appointments as Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), Deputy Resident District Commissioners (DRDCs), and Assistant Resident District Commissioners (ARDCs).
The Office clarified that such claims are false and intended to tarnish its name and reputation. It emphasized that appointments to these positions are conducted strictly through established government procedures and that any official communication regarding appointments is disseminated through recognized and official channels.
The Minister cautioned the public against parting with money in exchange for promises of appointments, stressing that no payments are required at any stage of the official recruitment or appointment process.
Members of the public have been urged to disregard such calls and report any related incidents to the nearest police stations.
The warning comes amid growing concerns over impersonation and fraudulent schemes targeting individuals seeking public office opportunities.
