Nakasero, Kampala- Performance in the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations has improved significantly compared to 2024, according to the latest results summary.

According to the results which have been released today at State House Nakasero by First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni, the Minister for Education, a total of 429,949 candidates sat for the 2025 examinations. Of these, 428,628 candidates (99.69%) qualified for the UCE certificate and were graded under Result 1. This marks a notable rise from 2024, where 350,146 candidates (98.1%) attained Result 1.
In 2025, 1,191 candidates (0.28%) were graded under Result 2, while 130 candidates (0.03%) were placed under Result 3, bringing the cumulative percentage of graded candidates to 100 percent. The proportion of candidates who did not qualify for the UCE certificate dropped sharply to 0.31 percent in 2025, compared to 1.9 percent in 2024, reflecting improved overall performance.
A total of 2,214 candidates (0.5%) were recorded as absent in 2025, slightly lower than the 2,297 candidates (0.6%) who missed the examinations in 2024.
Overall, the 2025 results demonstrate improved achievement levels, with a higher percentage of candidates qualifying for certification and a significant reduction in failure rates. Education stakeholders have attributed the improvement to enhanced preparedness, strengthened supervision, and continued reforms in the examination process.
The results will be indicated on candidates’ transcripts and certificates, with successful candidates classified under Result 1.
