Bukomansimbi, Uganda — The Outgoing Bukomansimbi North Member of Parliament, Christine Ndiwalana, has thanked voters for their support and urged residents to remain focused on service and collective progress following the conclusion of parliamentary elections.
In a message released after the polls, Ndiwalana said that while elections are a periodic event, leadership responsibility and service to the people are continuous.
“Elections come and go, but service and responsibility remain,” Ndiwalana said, expressing gratitude to voters who stood with her and believed in a shared vision for the constituency.
She acknowledged concerns that were raised during the electoral process but emphasized that her priority remains the welfare of the people rather than engaging in prolonged disputes.
“While concerns were raised during the process, my focus remains with the people — not prolonged disputes — because my energy belongs to the future we are building together,” she noted.
The former legislator called on residents of Bukomansimbi District to turn out in large numbers and support National Unity Platform (NUP) candidates in the remaining local government elections, including councillors and the LC5 leadership.
“What matters now is strengthening our voice at all levels,” Ndiwalana said, urging voters to back all NUP flag bearers.
She concluded by reaffirming her commitment to the people of Bukomansimbi North, stating that despite the end of her term in Parliament, her mission of service and advocacy remains unchanged.
“The work continues. The mission continues.”
Ndiwalana’s message has been interpreted by political observers as a call for unity, resilience, and sustained political engagement beyond individual electoral outcomes.
National Unity Platform’s Ndiwalana was defeated by National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) Salim Kiseka.
The race attracted eight candidates from several political parties and Independent Candidates.
The Bukomansimbi North race attracted eight candidates, although the contest largely narrowed to three main contenders: Ndiwalana of NUP, Salim Kiseka of NRM, and Muhammad Kateregga of JEEMA.
According to results released by the Electoral Commission, Kiseka won the seat after polling 9,037 votes.
