Johannesburg– Today 4th December 2025, the Kira EV Kayoola made its entry into the Gold City of Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Expedition team, led by the High Commissioner and his team, and consisting of the technical officials from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation; Kira Motors Corporation; and the Made in Uganda team, was warmly received at the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry where members of private sector that included prospective financiers, buyers, and insurers were walked through the history and innovative agility behind the Kira EV revolution in Africa.
Present at the chamber of Commerce also included officials from the Department of Science and Technology of South Africa and diplomatic representatives from the EAC Missions.
Later in the afternoon, the team held a boardroom meeting with the Executives of MTN Innovation Center in Ranburg wherein collaboration in the field of tech innovations were discussed. MTN gladly welcomed the opportunities of collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Uganda and Kira Motors.
In the evening, the expedition team was hosted at the University of Johannesburg Department of Electric Vehicles Innovation for dialogue on collaboration with Ugandan institutions in the electric vehicle manufacturing and further research and development.
The university committed itself to deeper engagement with Uganda in this sector and congratulated the country for its Kayoola EV success that has raised Africa’s innovative status in the global automotive industry.
