Lino Anguzu Sworn  in as the DPP of Uganda

MBALE– Mr. Lino Anguzu was officially sworn in as the Director of Public Prosecutions in a momentous ceremony held at Mbale State Lodge.

The ceremony was graced by H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa, President of the Republic of Uganda, who presided over the event.

Appointed by H.E. the President in October 2025, Mr. Lino Anguzu who was appointed as DPP in October 2025, takes the mantle of leadership from Hon. Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo, who was appointed to the position of Principal Judge in August 2025.

At the same Ceremony, Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo also took oath as the new Principal Judge for Judiciary, replacing Dr. Flavian Zeija, who was elevated to Deputy Chief Justice

The Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet Ms. Lucy Nakyobe administered the Official Oath and Oath of Secrecy, affirming Mr. Anguzu’s solemn pledge to uphold the Constitution, protect the rule of law, advance

criminal justice and serve the people of Uganda with integrity, courage and impartiality.

Mr. Lino Anguzu was also sworn in alongside Ms. Aisha Naluzze Batala, the Inspector General of Government, and the two Deputy Inspector Generals of

Government; Ms. Anne Muhairwe and Dr. Patricia Acan Okiria.

H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni congratulated all the appointees and admonished them to serve without corruption and to administer quick and

impartial justice to the people of Uganda bearing in mind their understanding of justice.

The Hon. The Deputy Chief Justice, Dr. Flavian Zeija, who was also in

attendance, congratulated all the appointees and encouraged them to offer sacrificial service to the people of Uganda.

Before his appointment, Mr. Lino Anguzu served with distinction as Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions and Head of the International Crimes

Department at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), where he demonstrated exceptional professionalism, leadership, and commitment to

justice.

Mr. Anguzu’s assumption of office symbolizes not only continuity in the pursuit of justice, but also a renewed vision for a strong, independent, and accountable

prosecutorial service that stands as the guardian of the rule of law and public interest.

The Hon. Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka, the Minister for Ethics and integrity, Hon. Lilly Akello Rose, the Chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission, Hon. Justice Douglas Singiza and Ms. Agnes Kainza Nzogi, Permanent Secretary, ODPP attended the ceremony among others.
