KAMPALA– Uganda Law Society (ULS) with five of its Council Members have filed appeal against High Court decision, delivered this week, suspending the Association’s elections for its representatives at at Judicial Service Commission (JSC) on top of issuing several directives.
In the decision of Justice Bernard Namanya delivered on Wednesday, he issued an Injunction barring any of the council members, ULS staff and members from implementing the resolutions of the General meeting which was held last month in Kampala not until the main application which was filed against the society before the High court is fully heard and disposed off.
The Application which resulted into this decision, was filed by Lawyers Tumukunde Tonny and Nabijewa Martha
The other appellants are; Anthony Asiimwe, ULS Vice President, Isiko Arthur, the Treasurer, Samuel Muhumuza, Western Region representative,Egaru Omiat Emmanuel, Northern Representative and Eddie Nangulu, General Secretary through their lawyers of Jude Byamukama and Company Advocates, have already filed a notice of Appeal
“TAKE NOTICE that the 1st to 6th Respondents, being dissatisfied with the ruling and orders of the Honorable Justice Bernard Namanya delivered on the 16th day of October, 2025, intend to appeal to the Court of Appeal of Uganda against the whole ruling.” Reads part of the Notice of Appeal dated 17th October 2025
As per the court ruling, ULS elections which were scheduled for Saturday 18th October 2025 didn’t take place, but the lawyers vowed not to give up until when their Association regains back it’s freedom.
