MASINDI – Three convicts in the murder of the former Acting Masindi district health officer Dr.Jino Abiriga are set this afternoon to receive their respective sentences.

The trio yesterday pleaded guilt to have conspired and murdered Dr. Abiriga on the night of 6th January 2024 and hence asked for leniency
The prosecution asked court to accord the trio the maximum penalty of death to act as a lesson to the public.
The trial Masindi high court judge Mary Babirye is expected this afternoon to deliver the punishment to these convicts.
The accused persons include; Betty Cherotich a wife to the late, Joshua Namureng and Martin Kipsang.
Dr. Abiriga’s body was discovered at a neighbor’s home with reports suggesting he was lured away from his residence under the pretext of attending to a hospital emergency.
