KAMPALA– The Court of Appeal in Kampala has today commenced a three-day criminal appeals session during which a total of 30 cases are scheduled to be heard. The session will run until Wednesday, 24th September 2025.

The panel presiding over the session comprises Justice Oscar Kihika, Justice John Mike Musisi, and Lady Justice Cornelia Sabiiti Kakooza.
According to the cause list issued by the Court’s Registrar, HW Rukundo Allen Owembabazi, appeals of Aggravated Defilement form the largest category of the cases to be heard during the session, accounting for 15 of the 30 appeals.
These are followed by Murder seven (07), Aggravated Robbery (05), Rape two (02) while Theft has one appeal.
Three appellants are challenging life sentences, two in relation to Aggravated Defilement and one for Murder.
All appellants and their legal representatives are physically present in court.
The session is part of the Court of Appeal’s commitment to enhancing access to justice and expediting the hearing of criminal appeals.
