KAMPALA– High court in Kampala has threatened to dismiss a case in which Moses Kibalama Nkonge, the proprietor of the former National Unity, Reconciliation and Development Party (NURDP) and Paul Ssimbwa Kagombe accuse the National Unity Platform leadership of breaching the party constitution.
This is after Kibalama’s lawyers failed to appear in court today for the hearing of this matter.
This has annoyed Justice Simon Peter Kinobe who has threatened to dismiss the matter in case the lawyers fail to turn up on 13th April next year.
NUP was formed from agreements struck with Kibalama’s NURDP but the two groups have never appeared to settle out the matter.
The dispute stems back from 2020, when Kibalama handed over NURDP to then–Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), who transformed it into the National Unity Platform.
Since then, Kibalama and a group of founding members have repeatedly challenged the legality of the takeover, citing alleged violations of the party constitution and procedure before the Electoral Commission.
