Makerere, Kavule – The Electoral Management Committee (EMC) for the National Unity Platform (NUP) has revealed that they are going to take a step in ensuring that Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro, the Deputy Spokesperson of the Party who is currently on remand on charges of unlawful drilling is vetted as per the program.

The committee which commenced on Monday with vetting of those aspiring to hold National Unity Platform flag at the level of Member of Parliament, has revealed that they will vet all those that expressed Interest and qualify.
“The committee is going to look into sending some it’s members to Luzira Prison where Mufumbiro is being detained on trumped charges, they will ask him questions as per the vetting process like it has been done on all other contestants.” Remarked John Mary Ssebuwufu, one of the EMC members
He further added that, being on remand doesn’t take away all Waiswa’s rights to participate in the leadership affairs of his country and this is the practice even in other parts of the world.
The vetting exercise which is being conducted at NUP offices at Makerere Kavule in Kawempe Division is expected to take a full week.
