KAMPALA– The Uganda Law Society (ULS), will on Wednesday 17th September 2025, hold it’s General Meeting at Imperial Royale Hotel. On addressing the Press during the 38th RNB Live session at ULS headquarters in Kampala, Anthony Asiimwe , the Association’s Vice President listed the key issues on the Agenda.

“Pursuant to Section 16(1) of the Uganda Law Society Act, Cap 305, the Uganda Law Society
Council hereby issues this notice to notify the Society of the following NINE (9) member requisitions for consideration at the General Meeting to be held on Wednesday, 17 September 2025 at Imperial Royale Hotel at 2:30 p.m.” remarked Assimwe
That the Agenda for the meeting will include; To consider and vote on proposed resolutions arising from several requisitions.
“A requisition by Nabijewa Martha and other members of the Uganda Law Society, to conduct Council elections, appoint an auditor, withdraw all pending court cases, install the Elections Committee Chairperson in the role of Council; and issue a fresh nomination process for the two posts of Society Representative to the Judicial Service Commission.”
It Should be remembered, that the election of Uganda Law Society Representatives to Judicial Service Commission were put on hold following the High Court order.
In December 2024, High Court judge by then, Musa Ssekaana halted Uganda Law Society’s extra ordinary meeting which had been scheduled to take place on December 17th the same year. The applications which resulted into this decision, were filed by Pheona wall and Hashim Mugisha
Since ULS and some of its members were not contented with the above decision, they pushed on the matter to court of Appeal where on several occasions, they have been advised to solve internal matters through holding meetings with the aggrieved parties.
“Other issues to be handled is a requisition by Ssali Babu and other members for, inter alia, the censure and removal of Phillip Munaabi and Geofrey Turyamusiima from the Council of the Uganda Law Society. A requisition by Lule Alexander and other members from the Greater Masaka Bar for, inter alia, the censure and removal of Geofrey Turyamusiima from the Council of the Uganda Law Society.”
The same meeting will also handle a requisition by Alfred Muyaaka and other members for the Uganda Law Society to organize elections for the position of Deputy Secretary General & Young Lawyers representative to the East African Law Society Governing Council.
