ARUA– The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has paid tribute to the late Major General (Retired) Hussein Adda, describing him as a diligent and professional officer who played a pivotal role in restoring peace and security in Uganda.
Gen Kainerugaba’s message was delivered through the UPDF Commander Reserve Force, Lieutenant General Charles Otema Awany, during Maj Gen Adda’s burial today in Mutukula Cell, Tanganyika Ward, Arua Central Division, Arua City.
He lauded the late officer as a natural leader whose exemplary performance, commitment, resilience, and professionalism earned admiration from seniors, peers, and subordinates alike. “The UPDF is saddened by the loss of such a senior and professional cadre whose input was still much needed,” Gen Kainerugaba stated.
Highlighting Maj Gen Adda’s discipline and dedication to healthy living, the CDF noted, “His vigour, self-awareness and an agile walk reflected the resilience of his character,” adding that his passing represented a significant loss for the military fraternity, his family, and the nation.
We shall indeed miss his wisdom, counsel, courage and inspiration,” Gen Kainerugaba said. “We therefore join the family, relatives and friends at this most difficult time to mourn the fallen comrade whom we shall always remember.”

The Minister of State for Veteran Affairs and Member of Parliament for Aringa East, Hon Oleru Huda Abason, described him as a hero, a true champion, resilient and patriotic – qualities that have shaped and sustained the UPDF over generations.
Hon Abason noted that Maj Gen Adda’s legacy extended beyond his military achievements, touching many lives through kindness, humility, and generosity, leaving behind both his family and a generation of officers who benefited from his wisdom.
Maj Gen Adda’s brother, Weleya Ezra Remo, expressed gratitude to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the UPDF, H.E. Gen (Rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and CDF Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the support extended to the late General during his service and after his passing.
Friends and colleagues, including Maj Gen Dick Olum, noted that Maj Gen (Rtd) Hussein Adda left a lasting legacy in the West Nile region and across Uganda, mentoring numerous young officers within the force.
The burial ceremony was attended by UPDF generals, senior and junior officers, Members of Parliament, clergy, politicians, cultural leaders, and other dignitaries.
