KAMPALA– The high court criminal division has issued a production warrant requiring the prisons authorities to produce Rtd col Dr. Kiiza Besigye and his aidee Obeid Lutale on the 8th October for their bail application hearing.
This is after Besigye and Lutale failed to appear in court as earlier summoned, and they instead sent their lawyer Erias Lukwago to ask the judge recuse himself from the bail hearing.
Justice Emmanuel Baguma declined to recuse himself and instead ordered the prisons authorities to produce the duo in court next month.
Besigye and Lutale have been on remand since November last year on charges of treason they allegedly committed in countries of Kenya, Greece and Switzerland between 2023 and November last year.
