KAMPALA– The NRM Elections Tribunal has declared set aside the declaration of Mahad Kaweesa and declared Moses Nsubuga Kizito, as the Party’s flag bearer on the position of Kampala Lord Mayor in the forthcoming general elections.
The cancellation of Kaweesa’s victory followed the success of the consolidated petition of all contestants with Moses Nsubuga as the lead complaining about illegalities and non compliance of electoral laws which happened in the Lord Mayor Primary elections.
The findings of the tribunal, agreed with the petitioners that there was a number of irregularities that happened and they affected the election results in a substantive manner.
“This tribunal further observes that the 1st Petitioner came second, poling 43,505. It follows that in the circumstances, the 1st Petitioner being the eligible candidate who polled the most votes won the election and was entitled to be declared winner of the said election.”
This means that, Moses Nsubuga will hold the NRM Flag in the general elections, where Elias Lukwago the incumbent from PFF and Engineer Balimwezo Nsubuga will also be Contesting for the same seat.
