Makerere, Kavule– On Friday, the National Unity Platform (NUP), released a list of the Party Flag bearers at Local Government level.
Although in Jinja many had hopes that Tasi Calvin aka Bobi Giant a close ally to National Unity Platform President Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi and being an active member in most of the party activities would grant him higher chances of winning the party ticket for Jinja Mayorship, this has not been true.
The Card was given to Donor Kirunda, one of those who have worked hard for the party in Busoga region. Among some of Kirunda’s contribution was providing space for NUP offices where it has been established since 2023.
On the same vain, the party also dumped Peter Kasolo a former comedian attached to Swengere comedy.
The dropping of Bobi Giant will act as a sign to show that Election Management Committee of NUP depends on a candidate’s connection with the community as well as his/her ability than being close to party officials.
Reports indicate, that Kasolo being not in agreement with the results, he decided to contest as an independent in the forthcoming general elections.
