The Chief Magistrate’s Court in Isingiro has convicted Ayebare Isma, former Chairperson of Rwakakoore “A” PDM SACCO in Rwanjogyera Subcounty, Isingiro District.
After court considering both Mitigating and Aggravating factors, Ayebare was sentenced to a fine of UGX one million shillings, and further ordered to compensate the victims he extorted.
He was warned that failure to do so, he will serve three years imprisonment term.
During his tenure as Chairperson, Ayebare fraudulently obtained money from hundreds of peasants by falsely claiming that payment of money to him was a requirement for them to benefit from the Parish Development Model (PDM) program.
He was arrested and charged on 31st July 2024 by State House Anti corruption Unit working with together with other sister Agencies like Police.
