The Police in Nsangi along Kampala Masaka road are currently holding six individuals in custody, including the driver and five passengers of vehicle Registration number UBH183S Toyota Hiace (Drone) which was traveling from Kampala to Masaka for a football match in Buwama, Mpigi District.

According to Michael Kananura, Traffic Police Spokesperson, the vehicle was found dangerously loaded with 31 passengers, 13 riding on top, 18 seated inside and its number plates deliberately obscured.
“The passengers have been charged with riding in a dangerous position, while the driver is facing multiple charges,including:Concealing a number plate, Driving out of class, Breach of operator’s license. The group was intercepted through cameras, as part of our ongoing efforts to monitor & curb such dangerous behaviour on our roads.”
He added that, following the Above people’s arrest, the rest stormed the police station in protest, demanding the release of those in custody. “Police acted swiftly to contain the situation, 03 other suspects were arrested for obstruction & inciting violence & have also been charged. The remaining individuals were dispersed from the station.”
“We strongly condemn this kind of reckless & unlawful behavior. Such actions not only violate traffic regulations but also endanger lives. Traffic has recorded other such tragic crashes linked to such negligence, leading to loss of live serious injuries.”
Kananura further added that , the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, remains committed to the strict enforcement of traffic laws to ensure the safety of all road users and called upon the public to adhere to traffic rules as they refrain from actions that compromise road safety or interfere with lawful police duties.
