KAMWENGE – The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has this evening arrived in East Rwenzori Diocese for his official pastoral visit.

On arrival, the Archbishop was warmly received at Mpanga River, the border of East Ruwenzori and Northwest Ankole Dioceses, by the Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. George Turyasingura, and Maama Juliet Turyasingura.
He was also welcomed by Bishops, Clergy, Members of Parliament, political leaders, and jubilant Christians.
Bishops present were Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt Rev Barnabas Tibaijuka of West Ruwenzori Diocese, Rt. Rev. Edward Bamucwanira, retired Bishop of East Ruwenzori, and Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Rwobusisi and their wives.
Upon arrival, he laid foundation stones for the renovated St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the new Mothers’ Union building housing the Millennium SACCO, and the new Bishop’s Office.
Today, Sunday 17th August 2025, the Archbishop will lead a Holy Communion Service at St. Stephen’s Cathedral.
He is expected to end his pastoral visit in the Diocese on Monday, 18th August.
