KAMPALA– A team of 8 lawyers has been lined up to represent the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army Joseph Kony ahead of the confirmation of charge hearing session slated for the 9th next month at the International criminal Court in Hague Netherlands.

The team is led by Peter Haynes and was appointed by the ICC from the group of 87 lawyers who had applied for this responsibility.
Addressing the media in Kampala, Kony’s lead lawyer Peter Haynes noted that this step doesn’t mean the end of search for Kony, because he remains on ICC’s wanted list.
Lilian Atim one of the defense lawyers for Konny noted that in case he surrenders to the authorities in Uganda, he will definitely be arrested and tried by the ICD court in Kampala.
Joseph kony whose whereabouts are still unknown, is on warrant arrest for over 18 years and is facing 33 crimes against humanity.
Konny is wanted by the ICC over war crimes against people of Northern Uganda and the US Government maintains a reward of 18.2 billion shillings to whoever leads information for his whereabouts.
