Kampala- Uganda Police through its department of Traffic and Road Safety, has confirmed that the gridlock on Masaka road that started on Monday evening to Tuesday morning was caused by high volume of traffic from Masaka heading back to Kampala and In disciplined drivers who made several lanes.

“It is not true that the President of Uganda had any connection to the traffic jam in Mpigi along the Masaka–Kampala highway.” Reads part of the Police statement signed by Michael Kananura PRO Traffic
He further added that this situation was worsened, by a crash involving a truck and a lorry at Lungala, which temporarily cut off the road completely, as well as a broken-down trailer around the Kamengo area.
“Traffic police eventually restored order, and vehicle movement resumed.Let us not distort the facts.” He added
Many drivers and passengers who travelled in the evening hours of Monday, slept on the road due to heavy traffic jam along Masaka road.
