Kampala– Advocates and justice-sector stakeholders from Cluster Seven court stations have been equipped with practical skills on the Electronic Court Case Management Information System (ECCMIS) during a comprehensive training held at the Supreme Court Conference Hall, Kampala.

The one-day session, conducted on the Supreme Court Building, comes as the Judiciary prepares to roll out ECCMIS to Cluster Seven courts this month. The beneficiary stations include Kiboga High Court, Kiboga Chief Magistrate’s Court, Busunju Magistrates Court, Bukomero Magistrates Court, Kyankwanzi Magistrates Court and Ntwetwe Magistrates’ Court.
Opening the training, the Registrar of the Civil Division, HW Simon Kintu Ziritunsa, welcomed participants and described the rollout as another milestone in the Judiciary’s digital transformation agenda. He noted that ECCMIS has already been deployed in 36 court stations around Kampala and several High Court circuits including Luwero, Wakiso, Entebbe, Lugazi, Mukono and Jinja.
“This training marks another crucial step in our commitment to modernising court processes through technology to ensure justice is delivered more efficiently, transparently and equitably across Uganda,” he said.
HW Ziritunsa explained that ECCMIS is central to the Judiciary’s digital agenda, aimed at eliminating manual inefficiencies, reducing delays, improving access to justice and strengthening transparency in case management. He emphasized that advocates play a critical role in the system’s success as primary users in day-to-day court processes, and encouraged them to embrace innovation rather than resist digital changes.
During the training, participants were taken through key ECCMIS modules including case registration and filing, case tracking, e-payments, hearing scheduling, document and evidence management, judgment upload, and analytics and reporting. Presenters also highlighted broader benefits of ECCMIS such as increased
efficiency, paperless operations, enhanced accountability and improved service delivery.
ECCMIS Project Manager and Principal Information Management Officer, Mr. Joseph Ssinabulya, told participants that the System was designed to simplify court processes while strengthening integrity and accuracy in case management. He assured stakeholders of continued technical support during and after the rollout.
Mr. Ssinabulya also demonstrated key system features, including user registration, e-filing and practical filing of miscellaneous applications, and cautioned users on responsible system use to ensure data security and compliance.
The Senior Information Management Officer, Mr. Derrick Kawuki, a member of the ECCMIS Technical Committee, led a detailed presentation on the civil filing process, providing practical guidance on initiating and managing cases electronically.
The training was moderated by Mr. Denis Rwatooro, Senior System Administrator, who coordinated the technical sessions and facilitated interaction between presenters and participants.
The exercise has prepared advocates and stakeholders from Cluster Seven courts for a smooth transition into digital court operations as ECCMIS continues to transform judicial service delivery across Uganda.
